About Tetra Blocks

Tetra Blocks is the falling-block puzzle in its purest form: the pieces drop one at a time and you slide and turn each one so it locks into the stack. Fill a complete row and it disappears, which clears space and adds to your score; leave a gap and the stack climbs a little closer to the top of the board, where there is no next piece left to place.

It is a game about margins rather than reflexes. A flat stack has room for every shape and a jagged one only takes some of them, so the piece you place badly is the one that takes three pieces to tidy up - and at the speed the later levels run at, the gaps you leave early are the ones that end the run later.

It runs in your browser with nothing to download or install, and it plays either way round: the arrow keys move and turn the block, the spacebar sends it down, and on a phone or tablet the same controls are taps on the screen.

Tips for a cleaner stack

  • Keep the top flat. A level surface has room for every shape; a jagged one only fits some of them.
  • Finish the rows you start. A row one block short is a row you have to rebuild later, usually with worse pieces.
  • Leave a column for the long piece. Every stack needs one eventually, and a gap you keep is easier than a gap you have to make.
  • Place the next piece, do not admire the last one. The stack only ever fills up while you are waiting.

Tetra Blocks is a Tetris game made by RavalMatic and published on GameDistribution. It plays with a keyboard or a touchscreen, on desktop and on mobile.

How to play

Move: the left and right arrow keys slide the falling block across the stack. Rotate: the arrow keys also turn the block so it fits the gap. Drop: press the spacebar to send the block down. Touch: on a phone or tablet the same controls are taps on the screen. Goal: fill complete rows to clear them, and keep the stack away from the top of the board. Score: every row you clear adds to your score.
